Hi, I'm Bella.

Why SLTeach? I chose the name to reflect the fact that I am a dual-trained teacher and Speech and Language Therapist!

​

I have been a Speech and Language Therapist working within the NHS since 2005. I have worked with children of all ages, from newborns to young adults, across a range of settings including mainstream primary schools and special schools, children centres and child development centres, large teaching hospitals, and in children’s own homes. The experience and knowledge that I bring from across these different settings means that as an independent therapist I am well placed to provide each child with an individualised service to meet their specific needs.

In 2018 I trained to be a teacher, and have since spent 4 years working within mainstream primary and special schools; a combination of qualifications that gives me uncommon, and very valuable, insight into how children can be supported to achieve their very best. I believe strongly in working as part of a team alongside parents, education staff and other professionals to achieve results. Having been frontline in the classroom, I have first-hand experience of the guidance and assistance that educational staff need to support children’s communication development, and realistic expectations of what they are able to provide, helping me to ensure that my advice and input is focused, achievable and effective.

I aim to support and develop children's speech, language and communication skills whilst keeping therapy fun, motivating and meaningful.  ​I specialise in working in early years and have a real passion for supporting families of under-5's who are not yet using words to express themselves.  I also have significant experience of working with children with complex needs and can offer support to children and families to develop communication and interaction using a total communication approach. 

I am able to offer sessions from a clinic room in my home as well as home, nursery and school visits in East Grinstead.
